The world\u2019s fastest electric convertible is now in Bulgaria, available at Auto Italia\u2014the official representative of Ferrari and Maserati in the country. The Maserati GranCabrio Folgore is the latest and most advanced product from the legendary Italian brand, which will celebrate its 110th anniversary on December 1.
Folgore<\/em>\u2014Italian for lightning<\/em>\u2014marks Maserati\u2019s line of fully electric models. The new GranCabrio shares its powertrain with the GranTurismo Folgore, already present in the Bulgarian market: 761 horsepower of maximum output, 0\u2013100 km\/h acceleration in 2.8 seconds, and a top speed of 290 km\/h. Combined with cutting-edge Italian design, a soft-folding roof, and four full-sized seats, this is one of the most exciting grand tourers of the modern era.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Formula E Technology<\/strong>
The GranCabrio Folgore\u2019s powertrain is based on technologies initially developed and tested in Formula E\u2014the world championship for electric race cars. It uses an advanced 800-volt electrical architecture, enabling ultra-fast charging of up to 270 kW (100 km of range in just 5 minutes).
Three powerful 300-kW permanent magnet motors deliver a combined 761 horsepower, 1350 Nm of torque, a top speed of 290 km\/h, and 0\u2013100 km\/h acceleration in just 2.8 seconds.
The lithium-ion battery offers a range of 447 km on a single charge (WLTP cycle) with an average energy consumption of 22.4 kWh\/100 km.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

93 Years Under the Open Sky<\/strong>
Convertibles have been part of Maserati\u2019s history since 1931 (with the Maserati 4CS). The new GranCabrio Folgore continues this nearly century-long tradition with elegant design, a reinforced yet lightweight structure, four full-size seats, and a soft top that folds with a single gesture in just 14 seconds\u2014even while driving at speeds up to 50 km\/h. When folded, the roof is extremely compact, leaving ample luggage space.
Available in five colors\u2014Black, Blue Marine, Titan Grey, Greige, and Granata\u2014the roof can be operated either via touchscreen or a simple gesture: slide your finger left and hold to close, right to open.
The GranCabrio Folgore also thrives in colder climates thanks to its integrated neck-warming system that blows warm air onto the necks of the driver and front passenger. This feature comes standard across all versions and offers three levels of adjustment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Design: Tradition and Future United<\/strong>
The new GranCabrio was developed in parallel with the GranTurismo coupe and shares the same bold yet elegant design language. Its sleek lines not only create one of the most attractive silhouettes in the automotive world but also ensure excellent aerodynamics.
As with the MC20 hypercar, the front lights are vertical, giving Maserati models a distinctive identity.
The front hood follows the Cofango<\/em> concept\u2014a combination of \u201chood\u201d and \u201cfender\u201d in Italian\u2014as both are a single structural element. The front bumper features a 3D version of Maserati\u2019s iconic Trident, inspired by Giambologna\u2019s Neptune statue.
The rear lights, borrowed from the GranCabrio, blend Maserati\u2019s classic \u201cboomerang\u201d style with a harpoon-like shape. Supercar Architecture from the Maserati MC20<\/strong>
While the exterior design evolves naturally from the previous generation, the underlying architecture is a revolution. Over 65% of the new GranCabrio is made from aluminum to reduce weight, with magnesium and high-strength steel also used. This required engineers to invent a completely new production process, resulting in a cabriolet only 80 kg heavier than the GranTurismo, despite additional structural reinforcement and the complex roof mechanism.
This platform is designed to perform equally well with both traditional and electric drivetrains.
The brakes are sourced directly from the MC20 supercar, with minimal modifications. Maserati also addressed a common EV issue\u2014brake underuse due to regenerative braking\u2014by introducing a self-cleaning brake system to keep disc surfaces clean.
The GranCabrio Folgore features a staggered tire setup\u2014larger rear (21\u201d 295\/30) and smaller front (20\u201d 265\/35)\u2014which further improves handling. Two motors power the rear wheels individually, allowing precise torque vectoring\u2014comparable to a complex electronic differential, but even more accurate.
A third motor drives the front wheels. Each is controlled independently by the Vehicle Domain Control Module (VDCM), enabling both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive modes. This proprietary Maserati system acts as the vehicle\u2019s \u201cbrain.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Folgore offers four driving modes.
In MAX RANGE<\/strong>, the top speed is limited to 130 km\/h, throttle response is softened, and climate control operates at reduced capacity to extend range.
GT mode<\/strong> is the default setting, offering a classic grand touring experience using up to 80% of available power.
SPORT mode<\/strong> unlocks 100% power, enhances sound, stiffens the suspension, and allows the driver to disable the electronic stability control (ESC).
CORSA mode<\/strong> delivers the most extreme experience with peak responsiveness and minimal driver aid intervention. The digital display shows critical data like battery temperature and torque distribution\u2014ideal for track driving.

The multifunction steering wheel features a built-in start-stop button on the left and a mode selector on the right, which also activates the optional air suspension. Lightweight sports pedals with aluminum footrests come standard.

A 12.3-inch central touchscreen handles infotainment, while an 8.8-inch screen beneath it controls climate and comfort functions.
