Maserati GranCabrio Folgore: The Fastest and Most Luxurious Electric Convertible on the Market Is Now Available in Bulgaria
The world’s fastest electric convertible is now in Bulgaria, available at Auto Italia—the official representative of Ferrari and Maserati in the country. The Maserati GranCabrio Folgore is the latest and most advanced product from the legendary Italian brand, which will celebrate its 110th anniversary on December 1.
Folgore—Italian for lightning—marks Maserati’s line of fully electric models. The new GranCabrio shares its powertrain with the GranTurismo Folgore, already present in the Bulgarian market: 761 horsepower of maximum output, 0–100 km/h acceleration in 2.8 seconds, and a top speed of 290 km/h. Combined with cutting-edge Italian design, a soft-folding roof, and four full-sized seats, this is one of the most exciting grand tourers of the modern era.

Formula E Technology
The GranCabrio Folgore’s powertrain is based on technologies initially developed and tested in Formula E—the world championship for electric race cars. It uses an advanced 800-volt electrical architecture, enabling ultra-fast charging of up to 270 kW (100 km of range in just 5 minutes).
Three powerful 300-kW permanent magnet motors deliver a combined 761 horsepower, 1350 Nm of torque, a top speed of 290 km/h, and 0–100 km/h acceleration in just 2.8 seconds.
The lithium-ion battery offers a range of 447 km on a single charge (WLTP cycle) with an average energy consumption of 22.4 kWh/100 km.

93 Years Under the Open Sky
Convertibles have been part of Maserati’s history since 1931 (with the Maserati 4CS). The new GranCabrio Folgore continues this nearly century-long tradition with elegant design, a reinforced yet lightweight structure, four full-size seats, and a soft top that folds with a single gesture in just 14 seconds—even while driving at speeds up to 50 km/h. When folded, the roof is extremely compact, leaving ample luggage space.
Available in five colors—Black, Blue Marine, Titan Grey, Greige, and Granata—the roof can be operated either via touchscreen or a simple gesture: slide your finger left and hold to close, right to open.
The GranCabrio Folgore also thrives in colder climates thanks to its integrated neck-warming system that blows warm air onto the necks of the driver and front passenger. This feature comes standard across all versions and offers three levels of adjustment.
Design: Tradition and Future United
The new GranCabrio was developed in parallel with the GranTurismo coupe and shares the same bold yet elegant design language. Its sleek lines not only create one of the most attractive silhouettes in the automotive world but also ensure excellent aerodynamics.
As with the MC20 hypercar, the front lights are vertical, giving Maserati models a distinctive identity.
The front hood follows the Cofango concept—a combination of “hood” and “fender” in Italian—as both are a single structural element. The front bumper features a 3D version of Maserati’s iconic Trident, inspired by Giambologna’s Neptune statue.
The rear lights, borrowed from the GranCabrio, blend Maserati’s classic “boomerang” style with a harpoon-like shape. The vehicle greets its owner with a dazzling exterior and interior light show upon key detection. Optionally, it can auto-lock or unlock as you approach or walk away.
Supercar Architecture from the Maserati MC20
While the exterior design evolves naturally from the previous generation, the underlying architecture is a revolution. Over 65% of the new GranCabrio is made from aluminum to reduce weight, with magnesium and high-strength steel also used. This required engineers to invent a completely new production process, resulting in a cabriolet only 80 kg heavier than the GranTurismo, despite additional structural reinforcement and the complex roof mechanism.
This platform is designed to perform equally well with both traditional and electric drivetrains.
The brakes are sourced directly from the MC20 supercar, with minimal modifications. Maserati also addressed a common EV issue—brake underuse due to regenerative braking—by introducing a self-cleaning brake system to keep disc surfaces clean.
The GranCabrio Folgore features a staggered tire setup—larger rear (21” 295/30) and smaller front (20” 265/35)—which further improves handling. Brake calipers come in black and anodized dark copper as standard, with optional colors including white, yellow, blue, and anodized red.

RWD or AWD
The electric motors, derived from Formula E technology, set new benchmarks in the auto industry. With ultra-thin steel components and high-quality magnets, these motors deliver sustained peak power more efficiently.
Formula E also contributes silicon carbide inverters to the system.
Two motors power the rear wheels individually, allowing precise torque vectoring—comparable to a complex electronic differential, but even more accurate.
A third motor drives the front wheels. Each is controlled independently by the Vehicle Domain Control Module (VDCM), enabling both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive modes. This proprietary Maserati system acts as the vehicle’s “brain.”
Battery and Sound by Maserati
The T-shaped lithium-ion battery is produced at the Mirafiori Battery Hub in Turin. It has a 92.5 kWh capacity and delivers up to 610 kW of power. Its shape avoids placing modules beneath the seats, maintaining a low center of gravity and preserving cabin height for improved driving dynamics.
The iconic Maserati engine sound hasn’t been forgotten: audio engineers have blended the distinctive whir of the electric motors and inverters with a synthetic V8-style roar, preserving the brand’s emotional audio identity.
From Efficiency to Track: 4 Driving Modes
Folgore offers four driving modes.
In MAX RANGE, the top speed is limited to 130 km/h, throttle response is softened, and climate control operates at reduced capacity to extend range.
GT mode is the default setting, offering a classic grand touring experience using up to 80% of available power.
SPORT mode unlocks 100% power, enhances sound, stiffens the suspension, and allows the driver to disable the electronic stability control (ESC).
CORSA mode delivers the most extreme experience with peak responsiveness and minimal driver aid intervention. The digital display shows critical data like battery temperature and torque distribution—ideal for track driving.
Launch Control is available in the two sportiest modes for blistering starts without wheelspin.
Interior: Craftsmanship Meets High Tech
The GranCabrio Folgore interior blends Italian craftsmanship and traditional materials with innovative, eco-friendly technology, making it the most luxurious convertible on the Bulgarian market.
Building on the MC20 and MC20 Cielo, the interior is both elegant and highly functional. Gesture controls, voice commands, and touchscreens eliminate the need for physical buttons, creating a clean and modern dashboard.
The sports seats, with integrated headrests, are lightweight to optimize performance and efficiency. With 18-way adjustability and standard heating, they ensure maximum comfort.
Upholstery materials include ECONYL—an advanced fabric made from recycled fishing nets and other discarded plastics. After meticulous cleaning and sorting, it is transformed into a soft, lightweight, and sustainable textile.
Three Touchscreens
The multifunction steering wheel features a built-in start-stop button on the left and a mode selector on the right, which also activates the optional air suspension. Lightweight sports pedals with aluminum footrests come standard.
Three touchscreens enhance the digital experience.
A 12.2-inch driver display is paired with a head-up display that projects key information onto the windshield.
A 12.3-inch central touchscreen handles infotainment, while an 8.8-inch screen beneath it controls climate and comfort functions.
Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connect within seconds and can pair with two phones simultaneously.
Talk to the Clock
The iconic central dashboard clock is now digital, with three display styles (Classic, Design, Sport). It also functions as a compass, G-meter, and stopwatch.
It activates the voice assistant with the phrase “Hey Maserati,” allowing voice control of climate, media, navigation, and phone functions.
The infotainment system is the latest generation Maserati Intelligent Assistant (MIA), built on Android Auto. It offers intuitive operation, impressive speed, and supports up to five user profiles that customize seat, steering wheel, mirrors, and climate settings.
⦁ Top-Level Safety
Safety was a leading consideration in the creation of this vehicle, which comes standard with dozens of Level 2 electronic safety systems.
Maserati Active Driving Assist combines several assistance features, including the latest lane-keeping assistant, which is capable of initiating evasive maneuvers to avoid collisions.
Dynamic Road View displays a 3D reconstruction of surrounding vehicles on the dashboard, eliminating the mirror’s blind spot.
Rear Emergency Braking can stop the car if it detects a potential rear-end collision while reversing.
The 2D Surround View Camera provides a 360-degree view around the vehicle.
Virtual Wall visualizes obstacles detected by the rear parking sensors as virtual blocks on the screen, which change color based on their proximity to the car.
⦁ Sound by Sonus faber
The sound in the cabin is handled by the world-renowned Italian company Sonus faber. The standard audio system includes 13 speakers with a total output of 815 watts.
In the top-tier High Premium configuration, there are 16 speakers with a power output of 1060 watts, specially designed for the car’s interior space to deliver an uncompromising audio experience.
The GranCabrio also features the HomeLink® system, allowing you to control devices like garage doors, gates, and exterior lighting systems. The buttons are located on the driver’s sun visor.
